NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan (AA) - Kazakhs on Sunday morning started casting their votes in the country’s presidential election.
As of 10 a.m. local time (0400GMT), 12.8 per cent of 11.9 million voters have gone to polls so far, according to Kazakhstan's Central Elections Commission.
Polling stations opened at 7 a.m. local time (0100GMT) and will close at 8 p.m. (1400GMT).
Acting president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the ''Kazakh people would be voting for the future of our country''.
After voting, former long-term president Nursultan Nazarbayev said that a new generation will come with new thoughts and they will carry Kazakhstan to new heights.
