Wall Street closes lower with tech losses

Crude oil prices increase

NEW YORK (AA) - Wall Street closed lower Thursday with losses in technology companies' shares.

The Dow fell 167 points to 21,287 and the S&P lost 20 points to 2,419.

The Nasdaq decreased 90 points to finish the day at 6,144.

Electric carmaker Tesla saw its shares decline 2.8 percent, while Google's parent, Alphabet, fell 2.4 percent.

Crude oil prices were on the rise after the U.S. production fell by 0.1 million barrels per day (mbpd) last week to 9.25 mbpd.

At the final bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $44.87 per barrel -- a 0.3 percent gain, while Brent crude was at $47.56 -- up 0.1 percent.
