Wall Street opens higher ahead of Trump's tax reform

President Trump's much-awaited tax reform proposal is to be announced later Wednesday

NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened higher Wednesday ahead of President Donald Trump's announcement of his tax reform proposal later in the day.

The Dow added 28 points to start the day at 21,024, while the S&P added 2 points to begin trading at 2,390.

The Nasdaq increased by 9 points to open the day at 6,035.

The market and investors remain focused on the much-anticipated tax reform proposal Trump promised during his campaign.

Trump wants to lower corporate tax rate for domestic firms to 15 percent, from 35 percent; and to cut tax rate on earnings of American companies offshore to 10 percent, from 35 percent.
