ISTANBUL (AA) - The White House has withdrawn the nomination of E.J. Antoni to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a White House Official confirmed to CBS News on Tuesday.
The official did not give a reason for the decision but described Antoni as a “brilliant economist” and said President Donald Trump plans to name a new nominee soon.
In August, Trump announced that he is nominating Antoni to serve as the next commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
"Our Economy is booming, and E.J. will ensure that the Numbers released are HONEST and ACCURATE. I know E.J. Antoni will do an incredible job in this new role. Congratulations E.J.!" Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social.
