Winners of annual Anadolu Agency photo contest announced

416,700 voters select winners from 85 images in competition

ANKARA (AA) - The winners of Anadolu Agency’s Photos of the Year contest were announced Thursday.

Türkiye's global news outlet’s contest featured 85 images marking essential events in 2022 from various parts of the world in three categories: news, environment and life and sports.

A total of 416,746 people voted for their favorite images.

"Night Flight" by Dogukan Keskinkilic won first place in the news category.

It depicts the performance of Turkish Stars ahead of the opening ceremony of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in central Konya province, in the same frame with the moon in the sky.

“Storyteller Granny and Uncle Muciddin" from Bestami Bodruk took the top spot in the environment and life category.

It shows visits by primary school teacher Nursel Gunduzalp Gulsever and science teacher Recep Gun to villages to enrich the imaginations of children and make them love science.

Hakan Burak Altunoz’s "Wave of Joy" won first place in the sports category.

Altunoz’s photo pictures the meeting of the Turkish Super Lig champion Trabzonspor with fans.

Anadolu Agency first held the Photos of the Year contest in 2012.
