ISTANBUL (AA) – A woman in the US withdrew her lawsuit on Friday against rapper and music mogul Shawn Carter "Jay-Z" and Sean Combs "Diddy" for sexually assaulting her when she was 13.

The case, filed in Manhattan federal court in Dec. 2024, claimed the assault took place at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

The plaintiff’s attorneys submitted a voluntary dismissal notice on Friday, with no explanation for the withdrawal, NBC News reported.

The lawsuit is "voluntarily dismissed with prejudice," which means it cannot be re-filed.

Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation, praised the decision, as the broadcasters quoted its statement, saying, "Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations have been dismissed."

Diddy, meanwhile, faces separate charges, including sex trafficking, kidnapping, and bribery, stemming from his arrest in September 2024.

A 14-page indictment alleges he hosted “Freak Off” parties, coercing attendees into sexual acts. He has denied all charges but could face 15 years to life in prison if convicted. His trial is set to begin on May 5.
