ISTANBUL (AA) - Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council head appointed Foreign Minister Shaya Mohsin Zindani as new prime minister following the resignation of Salem bin Buriek, the official news agency reported.
The state-run SABA news agency reported that bin Buriek submitted his resignation to Rashad al-Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, to "pave the way for the establishment of a new government to keep pace with the transformations recently experienced in the country."
Alimi issued a decree formally accepting the resignation and mandating Zindani form the new government.
In a separate decree, the Council head appointed the outgoing premier as his advisor on financial and economic affairs.
The current government will continue to manage state affairs in a caretaker capacity until the new Cabinet is formed, the agency added.
