Funeral procession held for dead officers in capital Sanaa, Houthi-run media say

SANAA, Yemen (AA) – Eleven Houthi officers were killed in US-led airstrikes and clashes with government forces in Yemen, the Houthi group said early Tuesday.

The Houthi-run Saba news agency said a funeral procession was held for the dead officers in the capital Sanaa, held by the group since 2014.

The Yemeni group did not provide any details when and where the officers were killed.

The US and the UK launched airstrikes against Houthi-held sites in Yemen in recent weeks in retaliation for attacks on shipping in the Red Sea amid escalation over Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, where nearly 46,600 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 2023.

Yemen has been in turmoil since the Iran-aligned Houthi group captured Sanaa and much of the country in 2014, forcing the government to flee to the southern city of Aden.
