ANKARA (AA) - A youth center in the Turkish capital has involved 600 Syrians in various activities it offers.

Ankara’s Altindag Youth Center has been organizing four different sports: kickboxing, muay-Thai, taekwondo and chess, since last May.

Guner Ari, the centre's chairman told Anadolu Agency, that after the Syrian children register at the center they can participate in all the activities, which also include reading, discussion and sports.

He said the center offers an ideal venue for children, both Syrians and Turks, to socialize.

Zeyd ibn Ahsen, a 6-year-old Syrian, comes to the center for kickboxing.

"I am happy to be here. I am happy to do sport," he said.

Syria has been locked in a devastating conflict since early 2011 when the regime cracked down on demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.

Turkey, as the largest refugee-hosting country in the world, hosts more than 3.5 million Syrian refugees.
