Sheikh Ahmad reappointed as Kuwait’s prime minister
Move comes after opposition lawmakers secured nearly 60% of seats in National Assembly

ISTANBUL (AA) – Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was reappointed on Wednesday as Kuwait’s prime minister, according to the state news agency KUNA.
Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued a decree tasking Sheikh Ahmad of forming a new government, KUNA said.
On Sunday, the crown prince accepted the resignation of the government led by Sheikh Ahmad after two months of its formation.
On July 24, Sheikh Ahmad was appointed as prime minister four months after the resignation of the previous government amid severe disputes with lawmakers.
Last week, Kuwaiti opposition lawmakers secured nearly 60% of seats in the 50-seat National Assembly, according to official results.
