ISTANBUL (AA) – Singapore's opposition Workers' Party released its election manifesto on Thursday, ahead of the upcoming general election next month, promising to officially recognize Palestine if it wins.

The election manifesto, which was posted on the party's official website, also included a slew of policy proposals, including reducing the voting age to 18 and introducing a national minimum wage, Malay Mail reported.

Singaporeans will vote in a general election on May 3, with candidates scheduled to officially file their nominations on April 23.

The manifesto detailed 125 proposals across five main areas: cost of living, economic growth and opportunities, inclusion and equality, accountability and democracy, and security and geopolitics.

In terms of foreign policy, the Workers’ Party stated that Singapore should officially recognize the State of Palestine before the conclusion of negotiations on a two-state solution.

“We support a negotiated two-state solution where two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, live in peace within secure and recognized borders. Such recognition would lend legitimacy to our two-state position,” the manifesto noted.
