Sirens sound across several Israeli regions after missile launch from Yemen
Israeli air defenses intercept projectile as Houthis step up cross-border attacks amid Gaza war
By Tarek Chouiref
ISTANBUL (AA) – Sirens sounded across several regions of Israel on Friday after a missile was launched from Yemen, according to the Israeli army.
The army said the projectile was intercepted after alarms went off in several locations, including Bnei Brak, Givat Shmuel, Ramat Gan in the Gush Dan region, Ramla, Beer Yaakov, Nes Ziona, Rishon LeZion, Rehovot, Judea, Dead Sea, Jerusalem, and Samaria.
No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
The Houthis have intensified missile and drone strikes on Israel since Israeli forces resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip in March after two months of a shaky ceasefire.
Since November 2023, the group has also targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 60,300 victims have been killed in an Israeli onslaught.
