Slovak parliament declares Russia ‘state sponsor of terrorism’

ATHENS (AA) – The Slovak parliament on Thursday approved a resolution designating Russia as a "state supporting terrorism" for its war on Ukraine, national news agency TASR reported.

The 150-member National Council adopted the resolution with 78 votes in favor.

The lawmakers condemned "Russian aggression in Ukraine including attacks on the civilian population, civilian targets and energy infrastructure, and expressing support for Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity."

The resolution said the Slovak parliament does not recognize Russian-held referendums in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions in Ukraine, and views the territories as part of Ukraine.

It also expressed support for efforts to set up a special tribunal to prosecute "crimes of Russian aggression and for the prosecution of crimes against humanity and war crimes."
