BINGOL, Turkey (AA) – One soldier was martyred in a PKK bomb attack in eastern Bingol province Thursday, according to a security source.

The soldier died immediately when terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device in Kizilmescit area near the bordering Tunceli province, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

On Wednesday, at least four people, including two police officers and a child were injured in another bomb attack in the province while a clash between security forces and PKK terrorists left a soldier martyred and another wounded Tuesday.

Previously on Sunday, two police officers were martyred when they were caught in a car bomb attack in Genc, a southern district of Bingol. The attack also left five officers and four civilians injured.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. It resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 700 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 8,000 PKK terrorists were killed in military operations.
