Soldier succumbed to wounds in east Turkey

VAN, Turkey (AA) - A soldier succumbed to his wounds at a hospital following a clash with PKK terrorists in eastern Van province on Wednesday, according to the regional governor’s office.

Two terrorists were also killed during the military operation, Van Governor’s Office said in a released statement; the operation remains ongoing.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
