ISTANBUL (AA) - South Korea moved into the semifinals of the Asian Cup after a 2-1 comeback win over Australia on Friday.

Australia broke the deadlock with a left-footed volley from Craig Goodwin in the 42nd minute but South Korea was awarded a stoppage-time penalty for a foul on Son Heung-Min.

After a minute, Hwang Hee-Chan converted the late-time penalty with a right-footed shot to the top left corner so the match went into extra time.

Son Heung-Min scored a free-kick goal to make the score 2-1 in the 104th minute.

Australia were reduced to 10 men after Aiden O'Neill received a red card for his challenge on Hwang Hee-Chan in the 105th minute.

In another Friday match, Jordan claimed a narrow win over debutants Tajikistan to advance to the semifinals of the tournament for the first time as Vahdat Hanonov put the ball into his own net in the 66th minute.

South Korea and Jordan will meet in the next stage at Qatar's Ahmad Bin Ali stadium in Al Rayyan on Feb. 6.
