Starlink halts new customer registrations in Indonesia after hitting network capacity

ISTANBUL (AA) - Starlink said Monday that it has temporarily stopped accepting new customers in Indonesia due to capacity constraints across the country.

“Starlink service is currently unavailable for new customers in your area due to sold-out capacity across Indonesia,” the satellite-based internet service operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX said on its website.

The company also said it is pausing new kit activations for customers who bought Starlink equipment through retail or third-party sellers.

It noted that clients will still be able to place a deposit to join the waitlist and receive a notification after the service becomes available again.

“Please note that we cannot provide an estimated timeframe for availability, but our teams are collaborating with local authorities to bring Starlink to Indonesia as soon as possible,” the statement added.

The development comes after Starlink officially launched in Indonesia on May 19 last year, with Musk attending the inauguration ceremony in Bali.
