DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) — Satellite internet service provider Starlink has officially started its commercial operation in Bangladesh with two separate packages, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

“Starlink's high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Bangladesh,” the company posted on X.

Bangladesh’s interim government has granted a 10-year operating license to Elon Musk’s satellite internet service. After around 90 days of high-level meetings between government officials and Starlink, the service began operating.

Government official Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said that while the service is expensive, it offers a sustainable alternative for premium customers seeking reliable, high-speed internet.

In a social media post, he added that two packages are available for users.

Bangladesh is allowing the company to import and deploy radio equipment, use approved frequency bands, and provide satellite-based high-speed internet services nationwide.

Starlink, a division of Musk’s company SpaceX, has rapidly expanded its global presence, now operating in more than 125 countries and territories. The company provides internet connectivity in remote or underserved areas using a constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites.
