ANKARA (AA) - A crane collapsed by strong winds in the Gaza Strip, killing two Israeli soldiers and injuring eight others, the military said on Thursday.

The army said the incident occurred early morning in the Israeli newly-built buffer zone inside Gaza, as a storm caused an operational crane to crash down on the soldiers.

During the Israeli war on Gaza, the army built a buffer zone along the eastern area of the Palestinian enclave.

The army said one of the injured soldiers was in serious condition, while the other seven sustained moderate and light injuries.

Stormy weather ravaged Gaza in recent days, tearing up dozens of tents for displaced civilians, according to local authorities.

On Jan. 19, a ceasefire took effect in Gaza, halting Israel’s genocidal war that killed more than 47,500 people and left the enclave in ruins.
