By Adel Abdul-Rahim
KHARTOUM (AA) – Sudan on Tuesday replaced several top military commanders, including the army chief of staff, according to the official SUNA news agency.
The agency said general Kamal Abdul-Marouf was named as army chief of staff, replacing general Emad Eddin Adawi.
The agency did not give further details about other changes in the top brass.
President Omar al-Bashir had promoted Abdul-Marouf to the rank of general in mid-2016 and appointed him as the army’s general inspector.
He had previously served as a military attaché in China and non-resident attaché in South Korea, North Korea and Vietnam.
