Sudan ruling council takes aim at Bashir-era officials
Country’s new military rulers dismiss high-ranking officials linked to ousted president
By Mohammed Amin
KHARTOUM (AA) - Sudan’s ruling Military Transitional Council (MTC) appears to be maintaining pressure on figures affiliated with the regime of former President Omar al-Bashir, who was ousted by the army last week.
In a Tuesday statement, the MTC announced the dismissal of Mohamed Hamid Suleiman, head of Sudan’s state-run radio and television agency.
In the same statement, the ruling council named Murtada Abdullah Warag as military governor of Khartoum State.
On Sunday, the MTC also dismissed former council head Awad Ibn Auf -- and his deputy -- and announced sweeping changes to the army leadership.
It also accepted the resignation of national security chief Salah Gosh.
According to reports, Mohamed Atta al-Moula, Sudanese ambassador to the U.S., has also been dismissed by the MTC.
