Move comes shortly after imposition of countrywide state of emergency and appointment of new prime minister
KHARTOUM (AA) - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Tuesday announced sweeping changes to the country’s military hierarchy.
The move comes shortly after al-Bashir, who faces ongoing demonstrations against his rule, ordered a one-year countrywide state of emergency and appointed a new prime minister.
According to a Tuesday statement released by the Sudanese military, al-Bashir’s changes “come within the framework of administrative procedures conducted each year by the armed forces”.
