ISTANBUL (AA) - The 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, commonly referred to as “Summer Davos,” kicked off Tuesday in China’s northern city of Tianjin, attracting 1,800 participants from around the world, the highest in recent years, China Daily reported.
Organized under the theme of "Entrepreneurship for a New Era," the World Economic Forum conference aims to highlight China’s pursuit of high-quality growth, dedication to openness and opportunities for global development.
Chen Shuai, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission’s Department of International Cooperation, noted that the high participation underscores the forum’s global influence and the appeal of China’s large market.
This year’s Summer Davos includes nearly 200 sub-forum sessions. Participants from China and abroad will exchange ideas, recommend solutions and provide guidance on global economic progress across five focus areas: the global economic landscape, China’s prospects, transforming industries, investment in people and the planet, and advancements in energy and materials.
Tianjin is hosting the conference for the eighth time since 2007.
The meeting will continue until Thursday with the participation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang as well as foreign delegates, including Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev, Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
