Suspect arrested after suspicious package found at hospital in UK

LONDON (AA) - UK police on Friday arrested a man over reports of a suspicious package outside of a hospital in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

A suspicious item was found outside the Gledhow Wing of St James’ Hospital which led to partial evacuation after emergency services were called to the area.

Police in West Yorkshire said a cordon has been put in place where army specialists were also called to make an assessment.

"People are asked to avoid the entrance to the Gledhow Wing at this time while the cordon remains in place," police said in a statement, adding that some people have been evacuated from the vicinity.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Leeds over the incident, but no further details have been released yet.
