Syrian forces kill 1 civilian in Aleppo countryside

IDLIB, Syria (AA) - Forces of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad government killed a civilian Sunday in an attack in Aleppo province.

The forces, which included the army as well as members of Iranian-backed foreign terrorist groups stationed in a village in Aleppo, breached a truce by using ground-to-ground munitions.

One person was killed in the incident, according to Syria Civil Defense, which is also known as the White Helmets.

In September 2018, Türkiye and Russia agreed to turn Idlib, Syria into a de-escalation zone where acts of aggression are expressly prohibited.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the Assad government cracked down on pro-democracy protests.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million others displaced, according to UN estimates.
