Syrian jets, Shia militias hit civilian convoy's route

ALEPPO, Syria (AA) – Syrian regime warplanes and Iran-backed militias on Thursday attacked the Rashidin area, which is situated along the route being taken by civilian convoys travelling from war-battered Aleppo to opposition-held areas, according to local sources.

The sources, who spoke anonymously due to security concerns, said Iran-backed Shia militias had targeted Rashidin with at least four missiles.

A first convoy bearing civilians from eastern Aleppo -- many of whom have sustained injuries from the ongoing violence there -- has already reached the opposition-held city of Idlib.

According to an agreement between the Assad regime and Syrian opposition groups, civilians evacuated from eastern Aleppo will continue to head towards Idlib, which is located near the border with Turkey.
