Syria’s Assad visits Oman after earthquakes

MUSCAT, Oman (AA) - Head of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad, visited the Gulf country of Oman on Monday, the state news agency SANA reported.

Al-Assad met with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik as part of his state visit, SANA said.

The visit is the first by al-Assad since twin earthquakes killed thousands in Syria and Türkiye on Feb. 6.

The Oman New Agency (ONA) said the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and fields of cooperation as well as regional developments.

ONA said the Omani ruler offered his condolences to al-Assad over the victims of the deadly earthquakes.
