Thousands march in Brussels to raise climate change awareness
Nearly 80 non-governmental organizations also take part in protest held before UN COP26 conference in Glasgow
By Selen Temizer
BRUSSELS (AA) - Thousands of people marched in Brussels on Sunday to raise awareness on climate change prior to the UN COP26 conference in Glasgow, slated to be held from Oct. 31 to Nov. 12.
Crowds chanted slogans on combating climate change with the participation of nearly 80 non-governmental organizations.
Public transportation was made free of charge during the day, allowing many to take part in the march.
The large number of participants drew attention as such public events had long been barred in Belgium due to the coronavirus pandemic.
