Trump says he will meet with Putin ‘as soon as we can set it up’ to end Russia-Ukraine war

ISTANBUL (AA) - US President Donald Trump said Friday that he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin “as soon as we can set it up” to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Putin decided not to attend this week’s peace talks in Istanbul as his US counterpart was not in the Turkish city, Trump told reporters in the United Arab Emirates.

After his current Gulf tour, Trump said he would return to the US to see his latest grandson, born on Thursday.

But Trump stressed that the Ukraine conflict needs to end and so he will meet with Putin to end the war “as soon as we can set it up.”
