Trump's former finance chief sentenced to 5 months in jail

NEW YORK (AA) - Former US President Donald Trump's long-time chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg was sentenced to five months in prison Tuesday for his role in a tax fraud scheme

Weisselberg, 75, agreed to be a witness and testify against the Trump Organization in return for a lesser punishment, which led to the conviction of the Trump Organization last year.

He pleaded guilty to 15 counts including tax crimes, falsifying business records and illegal payments.

Weisselberg was accused of dodging taxes on $1.7 million in fringe benefits. He was also ordered to pay back almost $2 million in taxes and penalties.

He will serve his sentence at a notorious New York City prison known as Rikers Island.
