Tunisia, Oman record new deaths, while Yemen report infections

ANKARA (AA) – Coronavirus case tally rose Tuesday in Tunisia, Oman and Yemen, according to health authorities in the three Arab states.


Tunisia's Health Ministry said one fatality and 6 infections were recorded in the country over the past 24 hours.


Tunisia's toll now stands at 46 deaths, 1,043 infections and 816 recoveries.


In Oman, the Health Ministry confirmed one death and 292 new virus cases.


A ministry statement said the Gulf state's virus tally rose to 5,671 cases, including 26 deaths and 1,574 recoveries.

In Yemen, the government's anti-coronavirus committee said two people had died from the COVID-19 virus and 12 people contracted the disease.

Yemen's case tally now stands at 23 deaths and 144 infections, including one fatality and four cases in rebel-held areas.


The pandemic has claimed over 318,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since originating in China last December.


The US, Europe, and Russia are currently the world’s worst-hit regions.


More than 4.8 million cases have been reported worldwide and over 1.78 million people have recovered to date, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
