Tunisian singer to hold benefit concert for quake victims in Türkiye, Syria

TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) – Tunisian singer Lotfi Bouchnak will hold a benefit concert for the victims of two deadly earthquakes that jolted Türkiye and Syria on Feb. 6.

“Bouchnak will perform on Feb. 28 at the Tunisian Culture Palace for our brothers affected by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria,” the Opera Theatre of Tunis said in a statement.

According to the statement, the proceeds of the “Double Corde II” concert performed by the Tunis Symphony Orchestra Academy on Feb. 13 were donated to the quake victims in Türkiye and Syria.

Tunisia sent a 41-strong rescue team and more than 60 tons of humanitarian aid supplies to Türkiye and Syria following the earthquakes.

At least 42,310 people have been killed by two strong earthquakes that struck southern Türkiye on Feb. 6, the country’s disaster management agency AFAD said Tuesday.

In Syria, at least 5,840 people have been killed in the deadly earthquakes.
