Turkey: 2 Daesh/ISIS terrorists held near Syria border

Total of 3 people trying to cross into Turkey from Syria arrested, says Turkey’s National Defense Ministry

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces arrested three people, including two Daesh/ISIS terrorists, near the border with Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

“Our border guards stationed in Mardin province have caught three people trying to cross into Turkey from Syria,” the ministry said on Twitter.

Two of them, identified as members of the Daesh/ISIS terror group, were handed over to the provincial Gendarmerie Command.

In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terrorist group.

The country has since been attacked by the terror group multiple times, with over 300 people killed and hundreds more injured in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed assaults.

In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
