ANKARA (AA) - Ninety-nine terrorists were killed in a week as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operation in southeast Turkey, the military said Saturday.
Anti-terror operations took place between March 24-30 in Turkey's southeastern Sirnak, Hakkari, Mardin, Bitlis and Agri provinces.
One soldier was martyred and nine others were injured while 99 terrorists were killed during the operation, the General Staff said in a statement.
As of the beginning of 2017, some 104 terrorists were killed during the operations across the region including northern Iraq as well as Semdinli, Cukurca and Yuksekova districts, the General Staff also announced in a separate statement.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
