'Turkey aims $100B trade volume with Russia'

Turkish president speaks to reporters during delegation-level meeting with his Russian counterpart in Moscow

MOSCOW (AA) - Turkey aims at $100 billion trade volume with Russia and will set new targets for the near future, Turkish president said on Monday.

Speaking to the reporters during an inter-delegations meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Recep Tayyip Erdogan recalled that Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant’s groundbreaking and an offshore section of TurkStream pipeline were completed.

"As of the end of this year, we aim to complete the inland section of TurkStream pipeline," Erdogan said.

This is the third meeting of the two leaders since the beginning of 2019.

Erdogan will attend the 8th High-Level Cooperation Council meeting between the two countries.

Later, Erdogan and Putin will attend an opera titled Troy, based on the Greek epic, in the opening ceremony of cross-year of culture and tourism.

The opera will be performed by Turkish singers at Russia's Bolshoi Theatre.

The 2019 was announced a cross-year of Turkish-Russian culture and tourism in the two countries.
