Turkey among most followed countries on social media

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey has ranked in the top five countries worldwide based on its followers on the tourism platforms, according to a statement by the country's Culture and Tourism Ministry.

In a statement released on Friday, the ministry said there are over 6 million followers of a promotion campaign titled "Turkey Home" on its Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, LinkedIn and Pinterest accounts, putting the country among the top five most followed countries in the world.

Turkey has 5 million followers on the Facebook, according to the statement, which also stresses that promotion campaigns of Turkey have been strengthening on the social media each passing day.

It also said that Turkey’s videos shared on social media accounts show the country’s historic, touristic and archaeological values, which have been watched over 554 million times so far since the start of this year.
