SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) - Turkey captured two suspected YPG-PKK terrorists near the Syrian border, Turkish security sources said Wednesday.
The suspects were trying to cross into Turkey and were captured by the Turkish military in the Akcakale district of Sanliurfa province, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The suspects were referred to a court, the source added.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- recognized as a terror group by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women and children. The YPG/PYD is the group's Syrian branch.
