ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey extended condolences to Latin America and the Caribbean for deaths caused by Hurricane Iota, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and material damage in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica and Belize due to the Hurricane Iota that affected Latin America and the Caribbean region,” the ministry said.
“We convey our sympathies and condolences to the friendly countries and their people and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” it added.
The "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm made landfall on Nicaragua’s coast late Monday, according to the US National Hurricane Center.
