Turkey detains 5 PKK/KCK terror suspects

KARS, Turkey (AA) – Turkish security forces detained at least five people over their suspected links to the PKK/KCK terror group, a security source said on Tuesday.

Local anti-terrorism unit in the eastern Kars province launched an operation to find out about the activities of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization, said the source on condition of anonymity.

Police carried out simultaneous operations in the city center and Susuz district, and nabbed five members of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), who were accused of being a member of the terrorist organization, it said.

Organizational documents, books and digital materials were also seized in the operation, the source added.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
