Turkey nabs 5 FETO-linked terror suspects

EDIRNE, Turkey (AA) - Turkish security forces have arrested five suspected members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) when they were preparing to illegally cross to Greece, a security source said on Thursday.

The suspects were arrested in the Kesan district of the northwestern Edirne province that borders Greece, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated a defeated coup in Turkey on July 15, 2016, leaving 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Turkey accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
