ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s Communications Directorate on Saturday organized a training program on Turkish media law for foreign journalists.

Held in the capital Ankara, the training aimed at informing members of the foreign press, accredited in Turkey, on issues such as Turkish media law, freedom of communication in Turkey, and its regulation and limitations.

During the program, the participants were informed about Turkey's regimes and regulations of press, radio, television, and internet.

The day-long workshop was meant to strengthen the existing cooperation with the correspondents, as well as networking among the participants.

The session eyed to serve as a platform of sharing knowledge and experience, and exchanging views with the international media community representatives.

The training given by lawyer Yusuf Gorgun also provided detailed information on international media law and regulations, including regulatory frameworks, international regulations, and freedom of expression.

Gorgun listed the relevant articles of Turkey's Constitution with regards to media law, and illustrated his point through court cases.

He also touched upon the legal perspectives of fake news, providing examples of court proceedings from around the world.

A similar training was organized by the directorate on Sept. 4 in Istanbul.
