Turkey re-elected to council of International Maritime Organization
Ankara's re-election strengthens its position in executive organ of UN agency, says Foreign Ministry

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey has been re-elected to the council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) at the UN agency’s 32nd assembly session held in London on Friday.
"Having been a candidate for the first time in 1999, Türkiye has been elected in all biennial Council elections since then. Türkiye’s re-election today has strengthened its position in the Council, the executive organ of the IMO," a Foreign Ministry statement said.
"Through its IMO Council Membership, Türkiye will continue to contribute to the work of the IMO and the advancement of IMO objectives to which she fully subscribes, with its resources and capabilities as well as knowledge and experience in the maritime field," it added.
