Turkey’s agency provides aid to 2,000 people in Sudan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency’s (TIKA) aid packages include food, personal care items

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AA) - Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Tuesday distributed aid to 2,000 victims of civil war in Sudan.

The aid packages, which included food and personal care items, were distributed in Kaduqli region of South Kordofan state.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Ahmad Mufaddal, the governor of the state, said the needy Sudanese people thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and people of Turkey for their help.

Celalettin Gungenci, the TIKA coordinator in Khartoum, said the aid campaign was being carried out in various regions of Sudan.

He said women and the orphans were prioritized during the distribution of the aid packages.

Since 2011, hundreds of thousands of people were displaced in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states after they were affected by the clashes between Sudanese army and the rebel groups.
