Turkey's Borsa Istanbul looking down at Tuesday open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,409.42 points on Tuesday, a decrease of 0.49% or 6.88 points from the previous close.

At Monday’s close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index jumped by 1.31% to 1,416.30 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 9.0130 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 8.9630 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.4270 versus 10.3790, while one British pound traded for 12.2610 Turkish liras, up from 12.2350.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $83.65 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
