Turkey's Borsa Istanbul looking up at Tuesday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,465.18 points on Tuesday, rising by 0.40% or 5.85 points from the previous close.

At Monday’s close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.02% to hit 1,459.33 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 8.4240 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, from 8.4620 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 9.8950 versus 9.9230, while one British pound traded for 11.5790 Turkish liras, down from 11.6190.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $68.84 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
