ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) announced Monday that it has donated 114 bicycles to support secondary and high school students in Eritrea’s capital city of Asmara.
The bicycles will be used for transportation of students, the agency said in a statement.
“Easy transportation is so important for the quality of education,” Turkish Ambassador to Asmara Aykut Kumbaroglu said in a ceremony held in Zoba Maekel Hall in Asmara.
"Students will have more time for hard work and focus on their education with the distributed bicycles. This kind of support pleased the Eritrean authorities as well,” Kumbaroglu said.
He said he wished that TIKA would pursue similar initiatives in the future.
