Turkish aid group sends 6 truckloads to NW Syria

Humanitarian Relief Foundation sends food, hygiene kits, clothes, blankets to be distributed to families in need in Azaz

KAHRAMANMARAS, Turkey (AA) - A Turkish humanitarian group on Thursday sent six truckloads of aid supplies to an area in northwestern Syria cleared of terrorists by a Turkish military operation.

Yusuf Bulbul, the Humanitarian Relief Foundation's (IHH) Kahramanmaras regional manager, told Anadolu Agency that they sent 4,000 packages of humanitarian aid to families in need in the city of Azaz.

The supplies include food, hygiene kits, clothes and blankets, he said.

Bulbul said that during the 10-year civil war in Syria, the people suffered poverty and were subjected to massacres without any age or gender discrimination.

Due to the war, he said, the families who settled at the border with Turkey have been surviving with the help of donations to the foundation.

"Finally, we distributed food parcels, hygiene packages and canned meat to 500 disabled families. Life in a war environment is difficult for everyone, but more difficult for the disabled," he said.

Syria has been torn by a civil war since 2011, when Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protesters with unexpected ferocity.
