Turkish CB governor becomes co-chair of Financial Stability Board's MENA Consultative Group
Fatih Karahan to serve for 2-year term

ISTANBUL (AA) - Fatih Karahan, governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), was appointed as co-chair of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group for Middle East and North Africa.
Karahan will serve for a two-year term starting July 1 together with Hassan Abdalla, the governor of Central Bank of Egypt, the FSB said on X on Thursday.
"Honored to be serving as Co-Chair," Karahan said on X. "Looking forward to working with colleagues across the region to strengthen financial stability and deepen cooperation."
The FSB earlier announced that the governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, was appointed as the chair of the international body.
Karahan, 43, has headed the Turkish Central Bank since February 2024. He graduated from the mathematics and industrial engineering department at Türkiye's Bogazici University and has a doctoral degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
