Turkish chief of staff receives Syrian Air Force commander in Ankara
Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, Aassem Rashed Hawary meet in Turkish capital

ANKARA (AA) – Chief of Turkish General Staff Selcuk Bayraktaroglu on Monday received Brig. Gen. Aassem Rashed Hawary, commander of the Syrian Arab Republic Air Force.
Hawary visited Ankara upon the official invitation of Turkish Air Force Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadioglu, according to the Turkish General Staff.
Kadioglu was also present during the meeting.
Since the ouster of the Assad regime in December 2024 in Syria, Türkiye has expanded its cooperation with neighboring Syria across a wide spectrum, including military training.
Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia in December 2024, ending the Ba'ath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963.
A new transitional administration led by Ahmad al-Sharaa was formed in January.
