Turkish first lady meets with WHO delegation

Meeting in Ankara addresses global health issues, Türkiye's position in Europe in terms of knowledge, experience in alternative medicine

ANKARA/ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's first lady Emine Erdogan on Tuesday met with a delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO), including the WHO's Europe Director Hans Kluge and the organization's Türkiye representative Tasnim Atatrah.

Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu was also present at the meeting, which took place at the Presidential Complex in the capital Ankara.

During the meeting, which addressed Türkiye's leading position in Europe in terms of knowledge and experience in alternative medicine, Kluge expressed his gratitude to Türkiye for its pioneering role on Gaza.

He praised Ankara's leadership in promoting traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine as part of its health innovation, and called for joint efforts to improve child and adolescent health.

Kluge congratulated Türkiye as the country is set to host COP31 and proposed integrating health and sustainability into global climate discussions.

For her part, Emine Erdogan said on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal that they had a "productive" meeting that addressed issues on the global health agenda.
